The Purpose of Market Documents

The Market Code and the accompanying eighteen Code Subsidiary Documents (CSDs) set out the rules to be followed by all the participants in the retail market to provide water and sewerages services to business customers in Scotland. The documents cover:

  • The obligations on, and the standards expected of, Market Participants
  • The processes that govern how business customers switch from one retailer to another
  • The processes that govern how Wholesale Charges owed by each retailer are calculated

The Operational Code; sets out the processes for dealing with day-to-day operational matters; is managed by Scottish Water and is published on their website.

Market Document web pages

There are separate pages for the Market Code, the CSDs, and the Operational Code; each has a sub-menu which sets out their change history.

The current version of each document is listed in Market Documents Configuration File; it shows the current version and provides an indicator if there are changes in the pipeline. The "Future Changes" page provides further detail.

The progress and status of  MCCPs and OCCPs are listed in the "MCCP-OCCP Status" page.
